“Remembering Scouts of World War II”

The gentleman I’m standing next to is Mr. Michael Callaghan from London, England and I’ve had the pleasure of knowing him for nearly 9 years. Mr. Callaghan is 82 yrs old and is in rarified air, having been in Boy Scouts for…..74 years!

There was a big camp out/competition a few weeks ago with 18 other troops, the theme was “Remembering Scouts of World War II”. Mr. Callaghan was honored and proceeded to tell us how as an 8 yr old scout in London, he endured bombing by the Germans 24/7 for nearly 6 months. The bombing he said, started off as “fun and daring”, then scary after bodies and body parts started piling up, especially of friends.
Quite the personality, Mr. Callaghan has made an impact on thousands of kids’ lives and….sports a mean head of shoulder length snow white hair!
